WARNING!! Glen of Imaal Terriers are NOT good swimmers. Some can't swim at all. They are very heavy-boned for their size, and they can sink like lead.I took Rory swimming when he was about 8 months old. He swam around just fine, so he went out in a boat with my husband. I was swimming nearby. Rory jumped out of the boat, went way under, and when he came up again he sank right back down. If I hadn't been right there to hold him up, he wouldn't be here today. Please! Don't ever take your Glen in the water without a lifejacket. I know of 4 Glen drownings that have happened in the past year. Even with a life jacket, watch your dog! (This goes for Cairns too-or any dog really). River currents are swift, ocean waves and undertow can be dangerous.
After much frustration with heavy snowballs on their undercarriages, making it impossible to walk, we decided to try these suits. They seem to work well, so far. You can see how much snow Annie has on her feet, while the rest of her stays dry. Maybe they will need boots too...
