Bourgeois OM Acoustic Guitar

Bourgeois OM Acoustic Guitar

It is hard to take good pictures of this guitar, because it is finished like a mirror! The story is that it was made by Dana Bourgeios as a part of a special ordered set for a famous heavy metal band. It needed some finishing work and didn't ship with the rest of the set, and ended up never shipping at all. I bought it new, from the factory in February, 2000, and have not played it much since, so it is near to show room condition.

It is excellent for fingerpicking, and good for flatpicking too, and, though it doesn't roar like a true bluegrass guitar, it holds its own in an ensemble. It has a richer, fuller tone when fingerpicked than most of the guitars that I tried (at the Bourgeois factory and elsewhere.) It sounds best with light gauge strings. It comes with a hard shell case.

The back and sides are rosewood with a slight purple tint. It is a beautiful color and it is a shame that the black finish hides the color and figure of the wood. The top is some kind of spruce like wood. the fingerboard is ebony or blackwood, bound with a black binding which is almost invisible.

Although Bourgeios was making guitars for retail sale at the time this instrument was made, this is a custon instrument. SN #1972
