Doreen Cheng is currently a senior member of technical staff at Philips Research in Palo Alto, CA. She has published papers and book chapters, and given tutorials and invited speechs in the areas of multimedia medical applications, parallel and distributed programming tools and environments, parallel computer-aided design, and electronic device analysis. Before joining Philips Research, she was a principal engineer of Computer Science Co. at NASA Ames Research Center, and a member of technical staff at Bell Labs. Murray Hill and Holmdel. She received a PhD of Electrical Engineering in 1988 from Stanford University. She served as the tutorial chair of Hot Interconnect Symposium, 94 and 95, and a program committee member of Supercomputing'93. She is currently interested in issues involving data modeling and software infrastructure for multimedia applications and effective discovery and retrieval of wide-area information.
