I work in the RETSINA project headed by Prof. Katia Sycara. We are developing a reusable architecture for multi-agent systems. The original prototype was written in PERL. We are writing a completely new systems in in JAVA. The vision is to have an agent editor, so that a designer can describe an agent. The agent editor will accept the description of agent's capability and the code for the agent will be automatically produced. We are extremely interested in adding the capability of mobility to our agents. Specifically we are interested in the following issues in regards to mobility of the agents:

a) How does an agent reason about when to move? What additional information or modules should be added to the agents?

b) How should the agent state be transferred to the remote host?

c) What are the security issues involved in mobile agents?
