Biography for Suhayya Abu-Hakima

Sue is the Group Leader of the Seamless Personal Information Networking (SPIN) Group at the Institute for Information Technology at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). Her areas of specialty include multi-agent systems, diagnosis, explanation, network management and messaging. She has been a researcher at NRC since 1987. She had previously worked at Bell Northern Research (now Nortel Technologies Ltd.) starting in 1982. She has Doctorate and Masters degrees in Artificial Intelligence from Carleton University's Department of Systems and Computer Engineering. She also has a B.Eng. from McGill University's Department of Electrical Engineering with specialities in Communications and Computers. She is chairing the IJCAI-97 workshop on AI in distributed information networks which is a follow-on to the IJCAI-95 workshop. She chaired a panel on Mobile Agents at the First Ottawa Workshop on Mobile Agents in the fall of 1996. She is the editor of the Canadian AI Magazine.
