Dr. Ahmed Karmouch is a full Professor and OCRI/NSERC Industrial Research Chair at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Ottawa. He is involved in several projects with Telecommunications Research Institute of Ontario, Telepresence of Ontario, Canadian Institute for Telecommunications Research, OCRInet, CANARIE, Mitel, Nortel, NRC, and TeleLearning Network. His current research interests are in distributed multimedia systems, interactive multimedia information systems, multimedia synchronization and communications, distance learning, interactive multimedia news applications, and mobile agents for heterogeneous multimedia networks. He has recently received important grants and contracts for work on Mobile Software Agents, from Bell Canada, Nortel, Mitel, NRC and CNRS (France). Karmouch is Technical Editor of IEEE Communications Interactive. He is also Guest editor for IEEE Communications Mag. special issue on "Mobile Software Agents for Telecommunications" (to appear in July 1997).
