Why ViC*?

ViC*
Virtual-Memory C* Compiler Project

Current Work

  • Lauren Baptist '99 is developing multidimensional, multiprocessor, out-of-core FFT methods.
  • Alex Colvin is working on the ViC* compiler.
  • James Clippinger is developing the ViC* interface on top of MPI-IO so that we can run really big FFTs on Beowulf clusters at Caltech. James is also working on out-of-core sorting.
  • Tom Cormen manages this mess (have you ever seen a skeleton on roller skates?) and uses the ViC* interface to implement out-of-core algorithms.
  • Mikhail Khankin '01 writes test C* code for Alex to shake out the ViC* compiler and is also developing code for out-of-core monotonic routing.
  • Matt Pearson '99 is working on out-of-core sorting.
  • Dan Siegal '00 is writing the out-of-core scan library.
